Our Goal

The primary mission of the East Main St. Special Improvement District is to encourage and participate in programs that will maintain, improve and build the East Main Street corridor of Columbus as a viable business, cultural and residential community. We also aim to assist the City of Columbus, Franklin County and other agencies and groups in providing programming which will preserve and enhance economic well-being and opportunity in the East Main Street corridor of Columbus.

Our Achievements: Over the past few years East Main Street SID has grown and began to see real fruit from our efforts in the community. Here is a small list of some of our achievements:

  • Provide litter pick up servicing. Since our two first litter clean-ups, we have organized monthly litter clean-ups as well as several large litter clean-up events with City of Columbus programs.

  • Encouraging local investment. The SID’s inauguration has proven beneficial to the local business scene. Property purchase offers have been made, new businesses have opened, and current businesses have improved their image.

  • Officially partnered & in communication with the CCP, Columbus Police Department, City of Bexley, and the City of Whitehall.

  • Contracted with Community Crime Patrol (CCP) to patrol East Main St. and its alleyways to report crime, report code violations and help our neighbors in need. Click here for the latest in CCP Reports.

  • Police Patrols. We have arranged for Special Duty foot patrols on East Main St. from Bexley to Whitehall to assist with the efforts of the CCP and offer immediate response if necessary.

  • Partnered with Southeast Healthcare in assisting our community’s women with drug abuse, homelessness, and prostitution.

  • Broke ground in replacing streetlights. The SID has played a key role, along with the Eastmoor Civic Association and Mideast Area Commission, in funding this +$1 million effort to improve East Main St.’s energy consumption, appearance, and safety.
